Upon starting the car I get a humming or vibration noise for about 30 seconds. This started a month or so ago, now I can hear it occasionaly while running usually when decellerating for a trafic signal. I am pretty sure it is something in the cooling set up.

Try to pinpoint where the noise is comming from. With hood open have someone start car and listen to where the humming is comming from. Listen around by the belt, sometimes a idler tension bearing can be getting worn. A bearing could cause a humming sound and vibration. This may not be the problem but it is somewhere to start. With out the car running check the water pump bearing. Try wiggling it to see if there is any play.
