My brake lights stopped working. Bulbs are fine, Relay switch by brake pedal is ok. There is power going to the brake lights.
Mechanic can't find the problem. I would like to know how to direct the next mechanic. Thankks, Lin

Does this car have Bulb Outage Warning? Does the 3rd brake light work? If the 3rd light works but the low ones dont it could be the turn signal switch, the brake lights go through it.If none work it may be the"bulb outage module"

My cougar has the same problem, none of the brake lights work. I've tested all fuses and bulbs. Was told it could be the brake switch, which I had both switches tested for conductivity and it was ok. Also there was a recall for the brake switch on 33000 99 cougars, but when they ran my vin they told me not for my car. So now im stuck as well. Any good advice where else to look

Hi, My problem was the relay switch. One mechanic said it was ok and Ford Garage must have tested it. $130.00 later, I now have brake lights.

Is that a brake relay switch? I had my brake switch checked at autozone, so maybe it was wrong. I even used a test light on it and couldn't get anything to work. I also wonder if I should just buy the brake light switch there seeing that its only 11$ and save myself the same hassle you had to go through.
