Transmission problem 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 81k miles

I just picked up this 95 cougar xr7 with only 81k on it. I've been driving it around for the past week and noticed the transmission starting to shudder. Its been getting worse and accompanied by a very audible noise. The car will not shudder in first gear or second gear. It will happen in third and fourth gear with the overdrive off or on. Tried to look up Tsbs. Transmission fluid looks full.

OK so how clean does the trans fluid look? Is it clean and pink in color or is it orange or brown in color? Use the chart below to help. you can have a plugged transmission fluid filter.

Here is a guide to help you get the service done.

See how the fluid looks chart below.

Fluid looked okay, the first time I checked it. Checked it again and looked more borderline. The dipstick has a white tip where the fluid level is and makes it hard to determine. I did a fluid and filter change to see if it makes a difference and it did it shifts much better and no more slip. I guess the filter was plugged.
