1989 Mercury Cougar car occassionally stalls

The cougar we just bought runs perfect except all of a sudden it will stall and not start unless you put fuel in the intake, then it still acts like starving for fuel. Then it will drive fine again after 20 minutes. The car is not hot when this happens and there is fuel at fuel injectors.

Check the fuel pressure if okay -check for spark and then get back

Yes fuel pressure is fine, tested valve right next to intake, plenty of fuel pressure there. Spark is fine. What next. Thanks.

What was the fuel pressure reading? Are the injectors pulsing

It read 42 pounds before starting, after started it read 32 pounds. We changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, back pressure regulator. It is still stalling. Please help. Spark is good. Car turns over, but doesn't start. Or driving down the road, just stalls. Usually after sitting, it will start right back up and drive again. Then does it again. Thanks.

Have the coil/s, ignition control module and the crankshaft position sensor tested.

Our problem ended up being the electronic engine control module located under the glove box in the right wall of the car. Good luck to others.
