1992 Mercedes Benz SL500 pistons

After installing front brake pads the pistons will not come back out when depressing the brake pedal.

Did you pump them several times? Brakes move a surprisingly small amount of fluid to move the piston. If so, you may have jammed them in the bore when depressing them to install pads.
