Hello, a couple of month ago I bought a 1991 Mercedes SL500, it's a V8 322HP.
The problem is this car has been parked for two years and needs some refreshing to get the feel of it's 322 horses.
The performance isn't what it should be, the car feels heavy when accelerating, I started a tune-up process and I changed the following:
Oil
Oil filter
Air filter
Both Fuel filters
SPark Plugs

I can feel a change yes, yet it still doesn't feel strong enough.I have yet to replace the fuel injectors and my fuel distributor needs to be disassembled and cleaned too. When floored I get black/grey smoke untill it shifts to 2nd gear.

What else can I do to refresh this engine and get it back in tip top condition

I would also recommend having the fuel system cleaned. If it had gas sitting in it for two years then this is definately necessary. Your local dealer is the best place to have this done as MB has a specific fuel system cleaning procedure. Also, I would recommend flushing all fluids. Replace your coolant, brake fluid, and trans fluid. Also when replacing the trans fluid a new transmission filter will also help with freeing up the operation of the trans.
