When slowing down, the transmission (at about 5-10 mph) downshifts sharply into 1st. Doesn't make a noise, but you can feel it.

sounds like your bands may be wearing or your shift solenoid may be burning out.
once i seen that the brakes was locking up at lower speeds causing it to down shift pretty harshly.
try some lucas transmission fix, after draining out a quart of tranny fluid, see if that helps it.
if not bring it to a transmission shop.
