I AM IN THE MARINE CORPS, CURRENTLY SERVING IN IRAQ. MY WIFE TOOK OUR 2001 MERCEDES ML320 FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS CHARGED $120. SHE SAID THAT THEY SAID IT NEEDED 8 QTS OF OIL. IT'S ONLY A 3.2L ENGINE. IT SHOULD ONLY NEED 4-5 QTS. I JUST WANT TO VERIFY THE OIL CAPACITY OF THE ENGINE.

Don't know about the ML320 by my C280 has a 2.8 liter engine and it takes 8-9 quarts. Synthetic oil costs about $5.50 /qt so it can get very expensive. Hope this helps.

I am a ML320 2001 owner. I have had my oil changed and questioned the same thing. Yet the car manual confirms the 8 quart capacity.
You may want to go to Wal-Mart next time though. It cost approx. $30 for a change but you first have to stop by a auto parts store to get the necessary filter for an additional $10 about.

Just changed my own oil and filter on my ML320 and it took 8 litres. At approx 2 pints to a litre that woud equate to 8 quarts.
