2000 Other Mercedes Benz Models Car will stop whil driving

My car sometimes will crank but won't start and sometimes cut off while driving. A mechanic said it needed a tune up and charged me $678.00 and before I could get home it cut off again.

Would a diagnostic test tell me if it needs a fuel pump or crank sensor? Or what could be the problem? He told me he did a manual diagnostic test because the diagnostic scanner did not show a problem. I feel like I was robbed.

Would a diagnostic test tell me if it needs a fuel pump or crank sensor? It depends on the man that's doing it whether he's a Tech or a Partsman.

Have them scanned the computer for code/s and view other live data that can be relevant to the problem.

I would check the fuel pressure 1st this will tell what the fuel pump is doing and so as the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter. Get this done and give me the readings and I'll evaluate where we going next.
