1992 Other Mercedes Benz Models oil pressure drup

1992 Mercedes benz 300E, 112000 Miles, All of a sudden oil pressure geige shows significant decrease in pressure. When engine is ideling the needle sits on zero.
checked the oil level is fine and the car runs fine.
am I going to loose the engine?

Hi there,

I would have the oil pressure tested with a master gauge, this will tell you the true oil pressure reading, hopeful you have a gauge problem and not a oil system issue. Do the test first before deciding on a course of action.
