1982 Other Mercedes Benz Models Two Wheel Drive Automatic 166,00 miles

PLEASE INFORM ME AS TO THE CORRECT PROCEDURE AND HOW TO PRECISELY SET THE VALVE ADJUSTMENTS ON MY1982 MERCEDES 300D TURBO.
I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE TWO NUTS UNDER EACH VALVE STEM AND I ASSUME THAT THESE ARE USED TO ADJUST THE VALVE CLEARANCES.

ALSO WHAT IS THE FACTORY RECOMMENDED INTAKE/EXHAUST VALVE SETTING, PLUS OR MINUS
HOW MANY .000 INCH.

sorry for the late response I'm sure by now you've got the valves Adjusted, and figured out you need special tools, like some 90° open-end wrenches, if you still need help write me back
