If you are refering to the fan in the control unit box under the hood as being failed this could be causing irradic problems. This fan is designed to keep your control unit cool and if it is failed may be causing shorting in the control unit due to damage from excessive heat. This is a problem you cannot let go very long because without the fan running the control unit will eventually fry.
