Hello guys,
Since I never drive behind myself I have not noticed this type of problem before so not sure if it has been ongoing or if it just started today... But this morning on the way to taking the kids to school, a man stopped me and politely told me that somethng was leaking from my undercarriage. I bent down to look under the car and sure enough, there was a steady stream - not gushing - but streaming steadily... the stream about the width of a 1/2" - 1/4" ... from the very back end of my estate. When I tried to really get on the ground and get under my car (very difficult to do as it is a Sports model and very low to the ground!) I could see that the area it was coming from was the large, enclosed "black box" area at the very back end (I hope this makes sense). It had stopped doing it by the time I got home and the fluid seems to be water ... Not oily like other fluids. No lights have come on to indicate low fluids of any sort. Is it possible that this is just the same thing I see when I am say driving behind a bus and it has what appears to be water coming from the back end in a steady stream? In other words, just condensed water, or excess collected water from the past wet days over the weekend? or something? I hadn't driven my car in two days and it has been raining! I don't know and now I am worried but definitely would NOT want to take it to the dealer because - as luck so often has it - my warranty has just EXPIRED. Yikes! I am ever so grateful for any light you can shed on this matter. Keep up the great work! Best, Anne Marie

Hi Have you looked in trunk to see if it is wet? Leaking from rear of vehicle right? Maybe trunk seal is faulty and the rain got into trunk?
Let me know
Thanks for donate

No, no water in trunk or rear inside of car at all (it is a station wagon/estate). So, back to the original question. The photo is of the undercarriage. What is that hole? It looks factory made. Do not know purpose! Please help. I still do not know where the water that "leaked" came from. All the best. Anne Marie

I don't know what the hole is for possible body drain. Is this box covering the fuel tank? Is has to be rain water is there a compartment in rear for spare tire?

Hello again. Yes, this is the covering to the fuel tank. I thought "body drain" myself. What would really be helpful is to have a schematic of the undercarriage of the car. The spare tire is housed within a compartment in the inside rear of the car under."Long" portion of the staion wagon. I guess you could call it the trunk. I wonder where I could find a detailed diagram of what is under there? Thanks again so much! I've just got to get to the bottom of this. (No pun intended). Best, Anne Marie

Searched and found no info to show what's there. All I know it is a protective shield for fuel tank maybe rain can enter space and drain out.

Thank you so much for trying to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of this. I may have to call up the dealership afterall. I hate to do it. But they recently fixed something back there (before warranty was up) and maybe the onus is on them to make sure everything was done correctly! Thanks ever so much again. And if you find anything else out - I'd love to hear from you! Best, Anne Marie
