1996 Mercedes Benz C230 stops blowing

Are you sure this is a 96 model year? Mercedes didnt make a C230 in 1996. Without knowing the exact car you have it would be difficult to give an answer. When you say the AC cuts out do you mean that it stops blowing air or that the compressor just shuts off? Based on the symptoms my guess would be the compressor cut off switch. Some cars are designed to cut off the compressor when it senses wide open throttle. This gives you maximum power. Its probably an issue somewhere in that circuit
