Engine Mechanical problem
1976 Mercedes Benz 450sl V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 180K miles

So my wife and I were given a 76' MB 450SL, from her father, to drive from San Jose to our home in Seattle. Car drove great. As the trip progressed, so did a ticking sound in the engine. More pronounced inside the car, than from the engine, which makes me think it could be a main crankshaft bearing? However, there's no degradation in performance. It just ticks. It has a lot of miles on it and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a crank bearing. However, was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I can do to get a better idea.

Noise transmits poorly in cyberspace. Ticking may be several things. I suggest a date with a real live MBZ mechanic to get to the bottom of the issue. It may be something like an exhaust leak or?
