1991 Mercedes Benz 300te All Wheel Drive Automatic 175000 miles

I have a 91 Mercedes 300TE 4matic wagon, the recovery tank has what appears to be a muddy substance in it. The car is over heating and has a coolant leak. Thanks for you help.

From the symptoms you have described, I would suspect a cracked head gasket on your vehicle. You will need to have it inspected to be certain the cylinder head itself is not damaged as well
