My five cyclinder 1982 sd turbo diesel had a rebuilt trans in 1999. The trans started slipping off the line then shifts up fine. Had the trans serviced flushed filter and new fluid, problem went away. Have been told the trans is shot, bad bands or seals. Recently changed only the fluid also added lucus non slip. Now no go in drive, car wont move, but will go into reverse? Russell at giant diesel said to drain flush and make sure to drain the tork converter and change the filter? Before thinking about another trans?Have you guys ever seen this type of situation before?Could the trans be very pluged up?The fluid was very dirty when I drained it.

The transmission should be serviced every third oil change, due to the fact that the transmission fluid was a very dirty. I'm afraid you've burned it up, reverse gear works on different clutch pack, than the forward gears. I'm afraid the transmission is no good.
