1989 Mercedes Benz 190e non starter

My car refuses to start tries to fire but just wont come to life. Ive replaced rotor arm/ dizzy cap/ plug leads seems to get a spark ok at the plug. Also changed fuel filter fuel pump seems to be ok any help would be gratefull

Spray some carb cleaner into the intake crank it up.

Did it run for a sec. Or two?When you say it tries does it fire, misfire, skip? Check fire pull wire hold 1/4 in. From block crank should be blue. If not weak coil.
Also look for Vaccum leak hose etc. Have someone crank spray carb cleaner around intake throttle if she comes to life briefly there is your vac. Leak

Maybe advanced timing. Retard distributor see if it lites

When I changed the fuel filter I noticed what looked like twin fuel pumps would this be correct and if so if 1 went faulty could this result in poor fuel delivery ie not starting

Got car started but it idles fine when driving its missing and sluggish checked leads and connections seems ok

Great news now can you get fuel pressure at idle should 40 to 48 psi

Could the coil cause damage to the distributor cap when I replaced it the old 1 was badly burnt the carbon brush was totally gone and scorch marks around the centre

Not like that high resistance in the plug wiring may cause but lots of miles is usually what does it.

Getting good fuel pressure upto the fuel distributor but doesnt seem to be injecting fuel to the cylinders plugs are dry after cranking over for a few minutes.
What actually gives the pressure in the fuel distributor so as I can get a better understanding of how it works
