Truck had been running fine. Started it up and was driving down the street and it cut off. Tried to start and it tries to crank but won't start. When trying to start it up it seems to have a slight cranking sound after I stop trying. Timing belt was replaced a year ago but not by a great mechanic. Could that cause it to stop if it came off or broke and it to sound like the engine is still turning over after I try to satrt it?
Help.

Yes. If the timing belt tore or snapped it would cause the engine to shut off, but still be able to turn starter. It wont start however.

Just a warning. It will take about 2 hours with two people working on it.
