Hello, My name is Jay. I own a Mazda B2000 truck that has the same engine, nothing special done. It runs pretty good with a loss of power climbing GA hills. I was driving the other day coming to a stop, down shifting, when all of a sudden the car lost complete power. The batter was still working. I checked under the hood to see if ther was a fuel issue, but the carbeurator was wet all over, like a burst of gas went in to it. I have so far checked battery, fuel pump (purchsd 07), alternator, rotor, ignition coil, and oil was full. I tried a test today, pulled off the timing belt cover checked to see if it was rotating while the car was turning over, but nothing was moving. Looked at the pistons but saw no movement either. So what should I be looking for next? Did the engine freeze up or did some shim or something break loose. I hope someone can help me, I need my truck. Thanks, jbird850

Pulled off the timing belt cover checked to see if it was rotating while the car was turning over, but nothing was moving. The crankshaft should be turning while engine is being crank over even without the timing belt On.

Inspect the timing belt and get back
