1997 Mazda Protege belt wear

I've had to replace the engine belt four times in the past 60 days. It was done by a shop. They don't know what the problem is, they say. Can you tell me if there is a fix?

Where are teh belts wearing at? The side? Center?

The belts are shredding as if they are being chewed up by something.

If its the alternator belt check water pump and its pulley
and if it has two pulley on it one for p/s one for alternator
make sure they are lined up correctly
