I have a 1995 Mazda Millenia with the 2.5L V6 engine. It has 172k miles. Upon starting, it runs fine. However, once the engine reaches normal operating temperature, it will run poorly. Idles rough (but it always idled somewhat rough), will smoke like it does upon start up. It will seem like it's missing, but appears to have spark in each cylinder. Under low RPM driving, it's impossible to give it gas without it sputtering and hesitating and such. If I give it alot of gas during this time, it'll just bog down and sometimes I hear a pop as if it backfires. It's much less severe once it reaches higher RPMs. I'm guessing it may be a cracked head or blown head gasket, but one symptom I was always told to look for is water/coolent in the oil, but the oil is fine. Could that be it, or is there anything else I should look for?
