Ticking at Low RPMs

'92 Mazda MX-3, 1.8L DOHC, Manual, 11,150 miles

The engine is clicking/ ticking at low RPMs (Under 1.5) and [ticks quieter] when I push in the clutch.

I saw a similar post for the '97 pontiac. Someone answered that a lifter is not getting enough oil until the higher RPMs, however I'm not sure what action to take. I'd rather not ruin the gasket if I don't have to. And could there be any other explanations?

Thanks,
Kekepania

When was the last oil change? What weight oil was used? Does it do it all the time or just hot, cold?

Sounds like it could very well be a lifter. If you are going to replace one of them, I would do them all.
