Engine surging during idle

Front wheel drive automatic.

I have a van that has the check engine light on and is surging during idle. What this means is that as I sit at a stop light it feels as if my car is trying to surge forward and creates the feeling that I am pushing on and off the brake (to passengers, this is what it feels like).

This sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere in the engine. Here is a guide to help you find the problem.:

Please let us know what happens.

I had this problem and found out the air intake tube has a crack in it. Once I replaced it everything works good again.
