Friends of mine recently purchased a mazda van. They were not told that it had a security system. The other day the alarm went off and the only way they could get it to shut off was to remove the battery cable. When they put it back on, the vehicle locked up on them. Now when you turn the key the dome light comes on and it dings but nothing else happens. What can they do?

Hi travissj,

If the remote control for the alarm is missing, you need to find out if any replacement can be made.

If not, then you need to disable the system by taking it out.

If there is a reset switch, turn ignition on and press the button to disarm it.

If not, try turning alarm on and off repeatedly between 5 to 10 times to see if the alarm shuts off.
