1992 Mazda MPV 4WD WON'T ENGAGE? HELP.

I HAVE A 1992 MAZDA MPV 4WD, MY STARTER WENT OUT, AND WHEN I GOT THE STARTER REPLACED THE MECHANIC REPLACED MY LEFT FRONT AXLE BECAUSE THE BOOT WAS RIPPED.
I WENT TO PICK OT UP PAID MY $679.00 AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT INTO 4WD, I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE PROBLEM HE RAISED IT UP TINKERED ALITTLE MORE AND SAID HE DID'NT KNOW WHY IT DOE'SNT WORK, "AND IF IT DOES NOT START WORKING IN A WEEK OR SO BRING IT BACK, AND HE WILL TRY TO FIX IT." I WAS UPSET BECAUSE SNOW IS COMING, AND I CHECKED THE FUSE IT'S NOT BLOWN? HELP PLEASSE. :Cry: :x :cry: [/b]

The simple idea is to pick up a copy of the MPV repair manual from Haynes.
In it you will find a section about the 4WD engagement solenoid.
It doesn't get simpler than that.
Perhaps someone sabotaged the linkage somehow?
Get it up on ramps and get your hands dirty.
This is the best way to know primitive combustion contricances.
The best service you will get for your Mazda is the service you do yourself, period.
Consider the Canadian Govt. Sponsership scandal.
Also ask yourself why the camshafts aren't gear-driven?
