2002 Mazda Millenia Pump Moan associated with ground speed

I have a 2002 Millenia 2.5 l with a moaning sound which sounds like a power steering pump, but the moan changes associated with ground speed but not engine RPM. The car does have speed sensitive steering could this still be the P/S pump?

The fact that the sound changes in relation to the ground speed indicates it's an issue with the drive train, not a pump. I would suspect a wheel bearing beginning to fail (as the millenias are known for eating them).

I would suggest having a mechanic look at it.
