Two different dealers a month or two apart said my engine light came on due to a catalytic converter issue. Neither one could identify what caused the issue, just said it might be plugs or wires or sensors, but of course recommended hundreds of additional $$ in fixes in addition to replacing the CC.

My Q's are:
Are there really TWO catalytic converters on my 2002 Millenia?
Can I replace these without doing all the other work? I had new plugs and wires done around 120k miles.
Can I expect to get reliable new CC's through eBay at significant parts cost savings versus the $600-$800 per CC quoted by the dealers?

Yes there should be 2 convertors. A pre-heat. And the main convertor.

You can replace them without all the other work. But the new convertors coudl go back out. You should find out why the vehicle is runing the convertors.

You can get reliable convertors on ebay or even jc whitney.
