I have a 2000 626 LE (no turbo) 80,000 miles, 4 cylinder, that acts as if it wants to start just wont do that final turnover. It may take up to 7-8 tries to get it to start. Took to the dealer and it would not recreate problem for them but they did clean out the fuel line and said that should clear it upthe problem. A week later the problem has returned. Took by AutoZone after the first reoccurance and their staff thinks it is not getting fuel. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with a 2002 4 cylider Mazda 626 with 45000 miles on it. In the last one month it has had difficulty starting up three times. The engine turns and seems like it's going to start up but it doesn't. It happened once when the engine was cold and twice when it was hot. The first time (cold engine) when it failed to start up I switched it from park to neutral and back into park and it started up. The next two times the car was turned off for about two minutes after a 10 mile drive and then it faild to start up. It did start up after I let it sit for about 4 to 5 minutes each time.

Otherwise, the car runs fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.
