I JUST PURCHASED A CAR FOR $850.00. HOWEVER, IT NEEDS SOME WORK. I GOT 2 REPAIR ESTIMATES. $1200 , AND $800.00. I WAS TOLD IT IS THE FRONT TIE ROD AND AXLE. I THINK THESE PRICES ARE TOO HIGH. WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON IT?

They both sound high for what parts you listed, the only way it could come that close is if the tie rod/inner socket assembly isnt available seperatly and the entire rack and pinion has to be replaced as a unit.
