1998 Mazda 626 Harmonic Balancer Replacement

The harmonic balancer in my Mazda 626 has failed for a second time. The rubber between the outer and inner metalic parts seems to melt and separate from the metal. What would cause the harmonic balancer to fail in this manner?

Just sucky workmanship, what part of the country are you from. Because that could be a factor if your in a hot area. And the assembly plants dont take this kind of stuff into consideration, but could be. Anyway, water, moisture, oil leaks, all that can be a factor, I suggest you find a better made balancer, so you don't have to keep going through this
