1992 Mazda 626 Heater control lever not working stuck on he

I need to know how to repair the heat control lever on the dash it is stuck on heat. My son forced it over to heat when it wouldn't go and now it will not go back.

You have to tear the dash panel apart to get to the cable there' no easy way out
