Engine Cooling problem
1985 Mazda 626 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

i am guessing at the year of the car. It is an oval track stock car we just got for free. It had a rotten hose from the block to the heater core so I removed both heater core hoses and just by passed the heater core totally. So when I start the car now the coolant is super pressurized and sprays out from the rad cap. If you take the cap off it is like a fountain shooting out. Do I have a blown head gasket and the exhaust is getting into the cooling system?By passing the heater core shouldn't do this. Any ideas. Thanks

If the coolant spray out the radiator cap as engine start almost for sure suspect at least a blown headgasket

Thanks for the reply. So if on start up (cold engine) the coolant just starts gushing out of the rad. You are saying that is a head gasket? So the exhaust or compression must be forcing the water out. Could it be ANY other thing besides a totally blocked radiator?

Part stores should have a headgasket test kit
its a fluid tube that change color if exhaust gases present in the coolant system
totally blocked radiator may be the cause of the head gasket failure but I dont think its the reason that forcing the fluid out
pull spark plugs and check if wet
