Manual shift cable replacement/swap?

The car listed above is a zx4 s model. The manual shift cable broke at the transmission, but the part is discontinued for that year. Would cables from an earlier year work possibly with some modifications?

Hello AMCCAIN93,

So, it looks like the ZX4 came with the MTX75 Transmission. I found two cable part numbers in my Ford catalog, and they say they are available. Here are the part numbers I found:

5S4Z7E395A-Cable Assy-Selector Lever Control
5S4Z7E395B-Cable Assy-Selector Lever Control

Do you know if these were the part number they tried? If not, I would call my local dealer with these numbers and see if they are available.

I will add a picture from my catalog for you also.
