Hi! I'm in desperate need to find the cheapest way possible to get my truck started! My 13 year old daughter lost the only key I had for my SUV listed above, which has a chip in the key. The problem now is though, a guy said he could switch out ignition and it would be fine. So, I paid him to do the job, he took out the ignition but, then never came back. So now, the ignition is out. Is there a way I can buy a new ignition with a key but will it be able to start, or will I have to get a special key? Is there a way I can disarming the alarm and install a new ignition? Please help! I don't have the money for a Locksmith or to tow it to a dealer. I am a single mother but am usually pretty handy so i'm going to try and fix it myself. Thank you!

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no easy way around this. You have basically two options here. The first would be to re install the original ignition lock cylinder and either have a locksmith or the dealership get you a key and have it programmed to your vehicle Passive Anti-theft System [PATS] or, second, is to get a new ignition lock cylinder with key, install that, and then have a locksmith or the dealership program the key to the PATS system in your vehicle. These are the only two options that are available to you. Please get back to us with how everything turns out, and I hope that this helps.

Thanks,
Alex
