I to have tuned up our car, always checked the tires and air filter. Burn synthetic oil and gone from 31 to 21 miles per gallon.

Hello,
This could be a spark plug gap problem. If the spark plugs didn't get properly gapped this could account for poor mileage. Is your Malfunction Indicator Lamp(MIL) a.k.a. "check engine" light illuminated? I have included a troubleshooting guide for in the diagrams below. Get back to us with what you find out.
