Hi, I want to replace the gear driven sensor on the transmission. I have looked for it and have not seen it yet. I have a factory manual on the car and it shows it being on the top of transmission underneath the intake manifold. I have taken it off and still don't see it yet.
any help or a better diagram would sure be appreciated very much I have the engine listed above and a U250E trans-axle.
Thank you

The transmission speed sensor is located on top of the transmission near the starter motor area. See image below:

Replacement
1. Remove battery.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove air cleaner hose no.1.
4. Remove air cleaner bracket.
5. Remove air cleaner inlet no.1.

Let us know if the information help.

That is the sensor for code P0500. It reads the transmission speed in the transmission and sends the data to the cluster.

If I can jump in, looks like you already replaced the NC and NT speed sensors. These are the magnetic sensors that you are referring too.

The driven gear "sensor" that you appear to be looking for is the vehicle speed sensor.

Here is a video and a picture of a 1997-2001 Camry. I could not find them from your model year but it should be in the same area. The first two diagrams with the drawings are from your model year.

Keep in mind they say this is in the transmission but it is actually in the differential part of the transmission because it is considered the output speed sensor.

Hopefully this helps. Let us know if you have questions. Thanks
