I want to buy a 92 town car with 162,000 miles from a widow, exc. Cond, but the car won't shift out of park for me to test drive, and the brake lights are not working. No manual to know witch fuse to check, is the fuse box under the dash? Also how can you tell if the two prong type fuse is bad, is there a way to bypass to shift it out of park?

Not a fuse! Follow the brake pedal to the switch that's mounted on it. Either it's not contacting (needs to be pushed in) or it's broke!

BOO
that is what it is called.
BOO= Brake (light) ON OFF switch
It is mounted around the brake pedal metal arm, up about 6-8 inches.A 2 wire connector plugs into it.
You can connect the wires in the plug to it test it. BUT DON'T bypass it. Or your BRAKE LIGHT will be on all the time.
It does the brake lights and the shift interlock feature.
