Electrical problem
1994 Lincoln Town Car V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 85000 miles

The cruise control pulses when engaged. The change in speed is about +/- 3 MPH and is very aggravating. The pulse/cycle is continous and is about 10-15 times a minute.

Another problem is the brakes. They feel very low and sometimes the pedal will go to the floor when sitting still in traffic.

Also, is there some way to de-boost the power steering? It feels so loose, especially after driving another vehicle. The road feel is almost non-existant.

The brakes sounds like the master cylinder is by-passing internally. If you slowly push down it will sink, but if pushed hard and fast it will have a pedal. The P/S- never have heard of a way to take assist away. Town cars werent exactly designed for " road feel" more to not feel the road. What Town car is it? Cartier, Executive or Signature? Need to know for the wiring diagrams for the cruise

It's a Signature Series.

Does the speed fluctuate if you dont use the cruise control? Basic place to start is to be sure the engine is tuned up properly and not misfiring, causing the surge. If the tune up is ok, then unplug VSS (vehicle speed sensor, located on top of trans axle p/s) and using a meter measure resistance across it, if resistance is not 200 - 300 ohms replace VSS. Although it still may be the problem at speed, could also be the MAP sensor or the EVP sensor.
