Beeping noise coming from behind glove box

Hi there. I recently purchased this car with 134,000 miles. Test drove the car and was fine with no noticeable problems. A few days after getting it home, when I turned the key to the "on" position I noticed an extra beeping noise (not the door open chime) coming from behind the glove box. Removed the glove box and determined the noise to be coming from a blue box, with two wire harnesses connected to it.

*Blue box beeps five times at about one second intervals for about a minute.
*No indication lights lit on the dash.

It may be insignificant to note, but the car has an aftermarket Viper alarm/car stater in it. When I purchased the starter worked fine, now it will not remote start. Alarm buttons still work.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
Thanks for your time.

Hey, if anyone is interested, I found out the source of the problem today. It turns out that blue box is the airbag module. May be a bad airbag sensor causing it to beep.
