While working under the front of the car I noticed that the rebound bumper mounted to the lower a-arm has left a shinny spot on my frame is this due to coil springs or shocks?

Coil springs control the hieght, shock only stop spring oscillation. If the bumper is smashed, you need front springs, if the bumper is ok leave em alone. It's the bumpers job to sometimes bump!
