2003 LINCOLN LS FAILURE TO REV IN PARK

Engine Performance problem
2003 Lincoln LS 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 95000 miles

the car was taken in for a smog check (CA). The test could not be performed because the engine would not rev to and hold 2500 rpm. When driving, rpms are not an issue. Appropriate rpm at speeds and shifts (both automatic and manual shifting). Will rev some in park when copld but not at all when warm. Idle is fine.

Please explain, was it reset by a scantool? Or did the car's own computer turn it off? Did you get the code when it was lit? Try going to autozone they will read the codes for free, ask them to read the " Freeze frame data" and post that if you can.
