94 Continental, very hard to get started, if it does finally start it will idle alright, but runs rough when under a load.
Oil had a very strong gas smell, so I assumed the Fuel Pressure Regulator was bad. I replaced it, but it had no effect.
Engine under a load almost acts like it is out of time. When trying to start will almost act like it lock up for an instant, and will blubber sometimes like it is trying to backfire.
Wondering if the timing gear (I assume it is plastic) had jump or a tooth broke off.
Starting to run out of ideas. Thanks

I have a 95 Continental & I have had some of the same issues wit mine. Replace your fuel pump or have the pressure checked out. By the way itz inside of the fuel tank ($$). Next, the oil u smell might be coming from your oil pressure sending unit. It sets over the exhaust right before the cadillac converter. It goes bad & drips onto thee exhaust. Resulting to sinky burnt oil smell ! Itz a small part to replace. $20 bucks for the oil sending unit. Good Luck fellow wrencher.
