My vehicle with the original motor never had a oil change in past life. I have own it for little over a year and just suddenly it starts to tick sounds just like a lifter but it gets quieter after the car is warmed up. And it is really loud when you first start it. Just pulled the valves and set the lifters. Tick is still there. We use non synthetic oil 10w40 just did a oil change a month ago. Not getting much oil pressure though. So what could be my tick?

Good afternoon.

Yes, it could be the low oil pressure causing the issue.

When you adjusted the valves, how did you adjust them?

It may be bad lifters, a cam, or valve guides worn out and the ticking could be the valves moving around in the guide. A common issue with the old small blocks.
