1996 Lexus SC 400 car will not restart until next day LS-40

1996 Lexus SC 400 V8 Two Wheel Drive

while driving one day lexus started missing, like slight backfire. Check engine lite came on. Next day after driving all day car after stopping at store, upon returning lexus would not start-or just not kick-in. Took to ase shop. Mechanic could not find any problem, drove for a week now didnot start after coming out of store. Seems like when weather is wet like car does not start? Has 139xxx and was not always using prem fuel.

Was any attempt made to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) as the Check Engine Lamp had illuminated?

Being an intermittent problem, it would be difficult to diagnose if no DTC were present. I would suspect the crank angle sensor to be the most likely culprit if it is affected by the weather.
