Hello, the exhaust system is getting loud on my LS-400. The only thing I have ever done is replace the heat shield on the catalytic converter about 5 years ago.

On a Lexus is it advisable to use a chain muffler store like Midas or would you recommend staying with the dealer? I have used the dealer exclusively until now but my guess is on something like this that the dealer would be a lot more expensive.

Appreciate your assistance and thank you.

Hello

Good question. For the muffler I would not worry about it. The other places must follow the vehicle guidelines and government regulations on the equipment.

Also, some of those chains give you a life time warranty. That you can not get from the dealer. So, you get it fixed, 2 years from now it gets a hole, you get a new one.

I have done this with all my vehicles..... Not gone to the dealer that is for mufflers. I feel you will be perfectly fine and save some money. Plus many times you are in and out in less than an hour. Don't forget to ask about their warranty though!

Hope this helps - let us know - Thanks for asking on our site!
