What do you know about Lexus brake specs. My brakes are in spec yet I asked for a complete spec list and where my lousy brakes fit in to the specs. Waited 4 hours to get almost nothing. At startup pedal down-start switch on-pedal can: 1)go to the floor 2)do nothing 3)remain constant-put in reverse pedal goes to the floor 4) pedal drops a little 5) pedal doesn't move. In other words it's a crap shoot. On the road you can stop at a traffic light and with a little pressure the pedal goes to the floor. Car does have good braking and the ABS does kick in. Pedal level is all over the place no consistency. At a stop neutral position you can pump to pedal to the floor not up. So far I've driven 3 loaners and 2 showroom models. None have the sinking pedal problems. The 2 new ones experience some fade problems. Had local specialist and one from CA. Determination-car is in specs. Pressure is good. I asked for the pressure spec range and what my car did. Got: Brake pedal height 6.0" as measured from asphalt sheet freeplay 2.0MM measured by by pressing pedal to slight resistance-stop light switch assembly adj. 1.0MM pedal reserve 5" 110lb force. I'm wondering which car they used or did they remember to turn it on. I had 2 of these guys in the car and said let's see where the pedal goes when I start the car-all the way down-they would not acknowledge it. I even carried a flask light so they could see it. 48 years of driving never had a pedal like this. These guys just don't have the authority to fix anything that partly works. I do not feel safe in this car. Don't know what to expect from you - first time user. I'll go $20.00. Whats a good web site to find others with this problem.

It sounds like a bad master cylinder.Usually if the ABS unit has an issue it will set a trouble code related to the pressure at that wheel or lack thereof. When master cylinders by-pass internally they wont set codes, but the pedal will go to floor with lighter pressure, but if pushed hard they will usually hold pressure. I found this forum that is dedicated to the Lexus IS. been around awhile, you should be able to find somebody out there with the same issue if it is indeed a common problem. http://my.is/
