I just got my 1999 lexus es as is. No books came with it when I bought it from this dealer. I loaded up the 6 cd changer and pushed it back in. I can hear it loading the cds when I push cd. It even cycles through them when I push the button, but they will not play. I don't get an error message. Also, the green back light to the radio is out. I can only tell what the display says in the daytime.?

Hello -

I apologize... The best we can do is provide a wiring diagram of your system. They have not released any information on troubleshooting the radio system.

The light being out is probably due to one of the bulbs on the circuit board being burnt out. Many of these have to be replaced by a radio shop as they are extremely small and are soldered in.

Once in a great while there may be one bulb that is in the base bottom or back of the unit that provides lighting when the lights are turned on. You can find this out by talking with the parts department and seeing if there is a bulb on the unit.

Since you just got if from the dealer, my suggestion is to take it back and have them troubleshoot and provide you an estimate.

Would you like a copy of the wiring diagram?

Hello -

Here is the diagram. . ...so you are able to see it I had to crop into sections so just print and put together.

Also, the estimate at the dealer is good, but also I would check some radio shops and other foreign car repair shops. That way you have a good variety to choose from.

I emailed a lexus dealer. They say the radio has to be swapped out. A new one would be over $500 so I told them i'd live with the problem. Thanks guys.

Hello -

Thanks for the update. Again, you still might consider talking to a few auto radio shops. Some of them can remove the radio and change out the bulbs...
