the car leaks powersteering fluid heats up when driving in the city. It also I took a look under the hood when car was idlin andhere is a lot of air in te power steering resevoir and makes a weird whinning noise when the car heats up and is idling

Having bubbles in the fluid is common when you have a leak. The whine noise is because of the air bubbles.

But I couldn't understand what you are talking about it heating up when you are driving.

While I am driving the temperature gauge goes up pretty quick oly in the city my friiend says that is driven by the power steering systemfan

Is this the gauge for the engine temperature? It has nothing to do with the power steering.

And is it getting higher than the normal operating range?

Actually, on the 92 ES300 the fan motor is hydraulic. It runs off the powersteering pump. If there is not enough fluid/ pressure running to the fan motor your negine will overheat.

My kid's 92 ES300's PS pump bearing seized and he's been driving it with Arms Strong steering. But it overheats cause no ps fluid is turning the fan motor. I'm working on it tomorrow.

You need to figure out why air is getting into the system. The whining sound could be is like air being sucked through a tiny hole. Is fluid being forced back up and leaking through the fill capà ‰

PS. Why on earth would toyota use a hydraulic fan instead of an electric one.`Go figure.

Man, you are so right.

After you said that, I remembered working on a Toyota Camry and thinking, "Who the hell had this great idea?"

I probably wanted to block it out of my memories.
