Leaking power steering pressure hose

I have owned truck for eighteen years. Never added a drop of fluid to pump. Had engine rebuilt and pump was removed as an assembly. Engine reinstalled and nor pressure hose is leaking. Who should replace hose owner or shop?

Hello, I am Danny.

Normally a mechanic or shop will unbolt the whole pump assembly and move it away from the engine to keep the system sealed when removing the engine from truck. It is possible that the lines are aging and being kinked/moved caused a little more stress to the hoses. The hoses themselves are only like $20.00, but I would go to the repair shop first. I am sure you spent quite a bit of money having them rebuild your motor so the least they could do is throw in a few hoses. Just my opinion. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
